Teleste and Rebl Group Transform Helsinki’s Public Transport with Digital Displays
Teleste has entered into a landmark agreement with PunaMusta Oy, part of Rebl Group, to provide thousands of advanced digital displays for Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) vehicles. Beginning in 2025, these displays will be installed across more than 1,000 buses, trains, trams, and metro cars, creating a transport media channel that reaches over one million journeys each day. The project highlights how digital information and advertising technologies are reshaping urban mobility, blending commercial value with improved passenger experiences.
According to Claudio Borrello, Head of Teleste’s Display Solutions, digital displays represent more than just advertising real estate; they are an integral part of a modern, passenger-friendly public transport system. With Teleste’s TFT display technology, passengers will benefit from high-brightness screens that remain readable in all lighting conditions, ensuring both real-time travel information and commercial messages are communicated clearly. Designed for long-term operation, these displays are engineered to withstand the demanding environments of public transport, underlining reliability as much as innovation.
For Rebl Group, the partnership represents a leap forward in elevating digital advertising across Helsinki’s transport system. Sampsa Lilja, Business Director at Rebl Group, emphasized the dual role of the displays: to provide passengers with useful, engaging content while delivering advertisers a highly targeted, high-impact platform. With centralized management, content can be updated instantly, allowing campaigns to adapt dynamically and ensuring that information—from brand promotions to urgent travel updates—reaches passengers without delay.
This initiative illustrates how public transport can serve as more than just a mobility service. By integrating dynamic digital displays, HSL is opening the door to new commercial opportunities while simultaneously improving usability for passengers. With video and animated content that captures attention, combined with real-time updates, the system enriches the travel experience and makes public transport an even more attractive choice. The collaboration between Teleste, Rebl Group, and HSL showcases how technology can bridge the gap between utility and engagement, creating a platform that benefits commuters, operators, and advertisers alike.
